Get To Know Your Counselor

A large sprawling live oak tree is in the middle of a natural area. The tree's branches twist high and low, with some resting on the ground. This tree appears to be very similar to Angel Oak in South Carolina.

Hey there, nice to meet you!

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) in NC providing in-person therapy for adults across the Triad area. I specialize in working with couples, anxiety, and OCD.

Part of why I love being a therapist is because I know the power of counseling first-hand. I spent hours on a therapist’s couch years before I considered becoming a therapist myself. I know how intimidating it can feel to start therapy, but I also know that the hard work, time, and self-investment is so worth the healing on the other side. While our journeys will certainly look different, I am excited to walk alongside you in your story no matter where you’re starting from.

Training and Background

  • Dual Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Master of Divinity from Wake Forest University (go Deacs!)

  • Graduate practicum and internship experiences supporting clients in school and hospital settings

  • In addition to my graduate training, I have completed over 100 combined hours of advanced training in:

    • Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT)

    • Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for OCD (I-CBT)

    • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

    • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

  • Prior to becoming a therapist I worked as a hospital chaplain and hospice volunteer coordinator

I believe that healing happens when we can trust in ourselves and show up authentically in our most important relationships.

Because I believe authenticity is a cornerstone to healing, I do my best to create a space where clients feel safe enough to show up without fear of judgment, shame, or having to “perform.” Whether you’re coming in to talk about those intrusive thoughts, a painful relationship betrayal, or the exhaustion you’ve been carrying for years, my role is not to judge or shame you. I’m here to walk alongside you, support you with compassion, and help you move toward the goals and relationships that matter.

Depending on your goals and what you need that day, therapy with me may look a little different: Had an exhausting week and need space to fall apart? I’ll make room for the heavy emotions while exploring opportunities for self-compassion. Feeling stuck and ready for practical strategies? We can get structured, make a plan, and tackle challenges together. Coming in for couples counseling? I’ll actively guide sessions to help partners slow down conflict, communicate with clarity, and reconnect emotionally.

Some Facts About Me

I’m an eldest sister and, for better or for worse, it shows.

My first therapy experience was during college when I attended a group for social anxiety. I now see the irony of forcing shy people into a therapy group together, but hey it worked!

I acquired my distaste (ok let’s be real, hatred) for insurance companies through the process of getting diagnosed with a chronic illness.

When I’m not at the office, I fight my neurosis through grandma crafts, artsy hobbies, and audiobooks (which DO count as reading, thank you very much)

FAQ: Is this Christian counseling?

Ah, so you noticed my master of divinity degree and your eyebrows shot up. Fair question!

While clients are welcome to explore spiritual and religious identities in therapy, I do NOT consider myself a “Christian counselor,” because I don’t have a specific religious agenda or tell clients what they should (or should not) believe. My role is NOT to preach, shame, or push a “biblical view” onto anyone sitting in my office. Instead, I do my best to create a space where clients can explore their experiences and beliefs without fear of judgment. I provide therapy to clients with a variety of perspectives, including those who are religious, spiritual, questioning, deconstructing, agnostic, atheist, or none of the above. To be extra clear about my values as a professional and as a human, I affirm and celebrate LGBTQIA+ identities and welcome folks of all sexualities and genders to my practice.

For many clients, spirituality is not part of therapy at all, and that’s fine with me! For clients who do want to explore spirituality or faith in counseling, I work well with clients who are wrestling with difficult questions, reevaluating old beliefs, or trying to reshape their relationship to faith.

No matter your background, belief system, or identities, you can expect a counseling relationship rooted in compassion and respect without the pressure of a sales pitch.
