Couples counseling

Starting therapy can feel intimidating, so I do my best to keep the process approachable.
If you are ready to begin counseling, head to the Contact page and share a little about what brings you in. From there, we’ll schedule a free 15-minute consultation to answer questions and see whether we might be a good fit.

Nope.
While my office is located inside a church building, I follow my clients’ lead regarding religion, spirituality, or faith in counseling.
If spirituality is important to you, we can absolutely make space for that. If spirituality isn’t your thing, that is completely okay too.
My role is not to judge, preach, or push beliefs onto clients. I provide inclusive, affirming therapy for clients of all backgrounds, identities, and belief systems, including LGBTQIA+ clients.
My Master of Divinity background means that I work especially well with clients who are reevaluating, deconstructing, or reshaping their beliefs and/or relationship to faith or spirituality.

I am an out-of-network provider and do not accept insurance directly.
For individual therapy clients with out-of-network benefits, I can provide superbills for possible reimbursement. Because coverage varies, I recommend contacting your insurance provider directly regarding mental health benefits.
Please note that insurance reimbursement requires a mental health diagnosis that becomes part of your medical record.
At this time, I cannot provide superbills for couples therapy, as most insurance companies do not consider couples counseling medically necessary. (Cue the collective therapist eye roll)

I offer a free 15-minute consultation for prospective clients.
Current rates are:
Initial intake session (80 minutes): $180
Ongoing therapy sessions (50 minutes): $160
I also reserve a limited number of reduced-fee spots based on financial need and availability, though all sliding scale openings are currently full.

You’re not going to like this answer, but it depends!
Every client comes to therapy with different goals, experiences, relationships, and challenges. During the intake process, we’ll discuss what brings you to therapy and what changes you hope to make so we can build a plan tailored to your needs.
I approach therapy as meaningful relational work that takes time, honesty, and consistency. At the same time, clients always have a voice in their care and may pause or end therapy whenever they choose.
When beginning therapy, I recommend scheduling sessions either weekly or every other week.

Short answer: very rarely.
I primarily offer in-person therapy because I believe I do my best work when physically present with clients. In-person counseling often allows for deeper connection, stronger focus, and a more grounded therapeutic experience.
In certain situations (such as illness or a classic Carolina snow-pocalypse), telehealth sessions may occasionally be available when appropriate.

I draw from several evidence-based approaches and tailor therapy to each client rather than a one-size-fits-all model.
My primary approaches include:
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT)
Motivational Interviewing (MI)
Attachment Theory
Person-Centered Therapy
I primarily use EFT and attachment-based approaches in couples counseling, and I-CBT in OCD treatment.
My goal is always to provide therapy that is emotionally supportive, relationally grounded, and effective for meaningful change.
